Nils G. Indahl is chair of the Norwegian Association of Data Protection Officers. Since 2019 he has been DPO at the Church of Norway, the country’s largest member organisation with 3, 5 million members. When the GDPR entered into force, he was DPO of the City of Drammen.

He was a lecturer in communication and IT at the University of Copenhagen from 2013 to 2018. He is the author of several university textbooks.

Until 2013 Indahl was a journalist and lecturer in digital journalism. He trained a few thousand journalists in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Germany, South Africa and India.

Indahl holds an International Diploma in Journalism from Darlington College, England. He studied politics and European law for his bachelor’s degree at the Department of Political Science, University of Copenhagen. His master’s thesis (in international politics) was titled “International Cyber Society: Governing the Internet”.
