Nordic Privacy Arena 2025

Nordic Privacy Arena 2026

This year’s theme at Nordic Privacy Arena 2026

Innovation and Compliance in the Era of Cloud, AI and Geopolitical Uncertainty – Because Accountability Can’t be Outsourced

Since 2015, the Nordic Privacy Arena (NPA) has been the leading forum for discussing data protection and privacy challenges, regulatory developments, and their practical implementation in the Nordics. In 2026, these discussions remain central – but this year, the NPA goes further.

Today’s private and public organisations aim to innovate and become more efficient while staying compliant, managing risks and maintaining stakeholder trust. On top of this, Europe faces growing geopolitical challenges.

At this year’s NPA, we ask ourselves how to be accountable in times like these.

Which approaches work and which don’t?

The Current Situation

Organisations in both the private and public sectors face increasing pressure – from customers and citizens to boardrooms and politicians – to harness the power of digitalisation, cloud and AI.

Meanwhile, legal professionals, risk managers and others doing the implementation work face their own challenge: ensuring compliance with not just the GDPR, but a sprawling tapestry of EU and national legislation.

AI has brought yet another dimension to this work, as automated systems increasingly influence decisions about individuals, community and society. This sometimes occurs without transparency or meaningful human oversight. When is it legal, proportionate but also ethical to use AI for efficiency purposes? Can identified risks be mitigated, and if so, how? Are new technologies here to save us from a welfare collapse or could uncontrolled AI lead to the collapse itself – and if so, how do we ensure control?

Add to this an unpredictable geopolitical situation, and a European Parliament calling for the EU to heavily reduce its dependence on US tech giants. At the same time, we hear urgent calls for the EU to improve growth, become more competitive and reduce red tape.

An Arena to Navigate the Complexity

With today’s challenges faced by organisations, accountability has become crucial. Which commitments can organisations make regarding privacy and security, and how can they demonstrate they meet them?

How do we remain in control in the current situation? How do we identify risks in complex value or supply chains? Should we outsource critical capabilities and decision-making? And how do we manage these risks? In other words, how do we demonstrate accountability?

The Nordic Privacy Arena aims to be part of the privacy professional’s journey. We bring you the tools that enable you to tackle these crucial issues in your day-to-day work.

Join us at Nordic Privacy Arena 2026, to be part of a two-day exploration of these issues and more!
