Anonymization, Pseudonymization and Data Subject Rights in Light of GDPR and the European Data Strategy
The current European data strategy foresees a novel ecosystem of data sharing and data trading among public and private sector organizations in the EU member states. The focus is on enabling and fostering data sharing among the stakeholders, while maintaining compliance with GDPR and other data protection legislation. In this respect, data anonymization and pseudonymization techniques will likely become critical elements in data sharing strategies. In this talk, I will present the work done at the European Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) on these topics, and I will showcase the specific challenges around anonymization, pseudonymization, and data subject rights in the context of European data spaces.
